PIG to Capitalism Audio Online
I'm thinking this isn't legal, so if your conscience bothers you buy a copy of the book. But anyway I just came across this online reading of my book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism. If you have a colicky infant, I suggest playing this along with chirping birds. It soothes and educates at the same time.
Comments:
I can't believe that you would pass on your hard work for free, what kind of capitalist are you? Aren't we supposed to be slaves to the almighty dollar? Don't you have respect for IP?
cotterdan: Bob claims to have read Stephan_Kinsella's Against Intellectual Property, and that it put him "95% there" (toward the anti-IP position). Of course, it's questionable that he actually red it, because whenever I discuss it with him, I end up having to explain Kinsella's positions and correct Bob's wildly wrong beliefs about them.
Links available on request.
I've also brought up how, by signing royalty deals, he's delegating out the right to aggress against those who copy his ideas, at which point Bob shrugs.
In any case, I'm betting he's going to get a call from his publisher about giving away their IP for free on the author's own site. Expect a deletion.

Silas Barta writes he's delegating out the right to aggress against those who copy his ideas
His book is clearly signaled as copyrighted material -- would it make you feel better if everyone that bought the book actually had to undersign an individual contract in which he'd agree not to fabricate copies of the book?

BlackSheep: Yes, that would be more consistent with Bob's beliefs, but if Bob insisted on that, he wouldn't find a publisher, and he wouldn't get his big $$$.
What I wrote was meant as a joke. I have nothing but respect for Mr. Murphy. I'm baffled that the guy gives us a heads up on how to listen to his book for free and he gets criticized by you. What's the vendetta about? And why under this blog when he is being nothing but giving?
Silas, under the current law system such contract could only be enforceable against the person who actually signed the contract. Good luck tracing him down.
If you don't like copyrighted work, stay away from it like the plague.
Anyway, reading Murphy's blog for a while, and occasionally looking at the comments, I thought you were the guy that was big on protecting scarce resources. Well, digging up information requires scarce resource, even if spreading it afterwards doesn't, so what do you advocate instead?

cotterdan, I'm guessing you are unfamiliar with the irrepressible Silas Barta. Anytime Kinsella posts a blog/article about IP on mises.org you can bet your life a rant from Silas (invoking the EM spectrum) will follow. Unfortunately (for Silas), his efforts have probably resulted in more persons deciding to give up their support for EM spectrum homesteading rights than renouncing their opposition to IP. Silas is obviously a smart guy but humility is either anathema or unknown to him.
Consider yourself fortunate, Silas, if you've never found it necessary to compromise your beliefs even a little. I'm willing to give Bob a pass on his book deals. If allowing his publisher to aggress against others to protect their copyright is the only way Bob's books see the light of day, that's a compromise worth making IMHO.
