Barney Frank on Ron Paul (and not on Steady Cam)

I'm sorry folks, but ever since I testified before his committee (though he was never in the room when I was speaking!), I have liked Barney Frank. There's all kinds of funny stuff in this clip (HT2LRC)--especially watch for him talking about the Democrats treating Ron Paul better than the Republicans did--but note that he says something and then catches himself, "I take that back..." Just little acts of human courtesy and humility like that are what I like about him. Not saying it overshadows his role in the housing boom, but c'mon it's a low bar he has to get over to be one of my favorite Congressmen.

Comments:
I feel the same about him. He's animated, he's funny, and he's got a great wit. It's just a shame that he's in Congress.

Stewart,

You can't see it because he made the text color the same as the background color but Bob ended the post with "I kid, I kid."

At least, that's how I read it, because Frank is NONE of the things Bob describes and I think he knows that (didn't you, Bob, post the Jan Helfeld vid of Pelosi... and if so, you must've watched the vid with B Frank?!) and therefore I took it to be sarcasm.

I can't bear to listen to this guy. Politics aside, he just sounds like a cartoon character. And I don't respect cartoon characters.

I hate cartoons. (just kidding)

the first part is ridiculous. You've demonstrated why the Fed isn't going to be able to destroy the new money so easily.

The second half of the video isn't too bad.

Taylor, it depends on the subject. Frank is abominable on commercial freedom and economics, but he has an admirable libertarian streak when it comes to, say, keeping the government out of American's bedrooms.

In a less formal situation, Frank is great fun to listen to. And despite his wrong-headedness on a number of very serious issues, he is a smart and articulate man.

At his worst, Frank is a man who has squandered his great potential through his career in socialistic government. But that's not all that defines a man. It can't be.

One of the things that has put me off watching Fox News is that broadcasters treatment of Frank on the O'Reiley show a few months back. O'Reiley basically lost it and started shouting at Frank. Unforgiveable for a professional journalist imho. As with you I don't agree with Frank's views but the treatment of him was just treatment was just wrong.

O'Really... a professional journalist"??? It's TELEVISION, folks!! Like wrestling.

To repeat, I'm not saying I agree with his politics or his economic views. And I wasn't being sarcastic--I like watching this guy.

I think it really is partly because of the politician's ability to charm in person. I'm not trying to sound like I'm important or anything, but I've been in the office with a few politicians (not huge names or anything) and it really is amazing how much you want them to like you.

You can say, "Oh I'm going to puke, I can't believe you're saying this!!" but I would have thought the same thing until I experienced it personally.

And it makes sense, that the sort of person who wins popularity contests is able to "take over" a room the moment he walks in.

I really just don’t know what to say. This guy helped wreak havoc in mortgage sector and G-d knows what else and we get this from you. Now I understand why Libertarian’s get run right the f--k over and the Keynesians continue to win the war. I don’t know if I can really trust anything that comes from your keyboard, get a freaking grip. I'm sorry, but what the …
I know you’re a pacifist but I never thought I would read something this weak from my favorite economist!
In the words from another socialist you seem to like or maybe this is better, you hope he likes you. “This isn’t a fucking game"
Thanks…
