IER Commercial

Ah, it brings a tear to my eye every time I watch it. (BTW, they don't feature me because we don't want Greenpeace knowing what I look like.)

It's actually Silas' birthday today! This one's for you.

Joking aside, here is the "Help Us Fight Back" page where I got this, and here is IER's main page. (I work for them in case it's not obvious.)

Comments:
Thanks, Bob! What a thoughtful birthday dedication!

"Effect real change"? You gotta be kidding, Bob!

If the IER couldn't do anything during the Bush years to rationalize our energy or environmental policies, where's the evidence that it actually wanted to, much less what chance has it got of doing it now?

It looks to me like the IER is a rea-guard action to protect the deals that are favorable to the big players, including the God-given right to exploit commons regardless of adverse affects on others.

Silas, happy birthday!

For one thing, IER didn't have a DC presence until summer/fall of 2007. So there's not much they could have done with the Bush Administration.

Second, I think we did have something (not sure how much) to do with the expiration of the ban on offshore drilling, which I considered an irrational policy.

Either way, I am proud that they used "effect" in a grammatically proper way.

Bob, you have just demonstrated that the IER has little that it can point to in support of its claim that it can "effect real change".

Further, you have not only ignored my point that the IER appears to act as a cover for rent-seekers, but also capably exhibited the logical fallacy of "your grammatical error means that I win". (Thanks for catching my error, though! I won't say I was just testing you.)
